Challenge 1: Sage Bionetworks/DREAM Breast Cancer Prognosis Challenge
The goal of this breast cancer prognosis challenge is to create a community-based competition that provides an unbiased assessment of the most accurate computational models for prediction of breast cancer survival. Participants will build models using a “training” data set, and infer predictions of survival onto a “validation” data set (for which the actual survival data will be hidden until the competition is complete). This breast cancer prognosis competition was launched at the Sage Congress on April 20th (play the video to the left to see the Congress presentation about this challenge), and it will complete at the November 12-15 DREAM conference. As part of the challenge announcement, we will partner with Science Translational Medicine to publish an article on the best performing model. To learn more, click “Join the Challenge.”
Challenge 2
Challenge 2 which will launch after November 2012 is already in the planning stages and will be formulated around questions from you and others in the breast cancer community. Shortly, you will be able to post here on Bridge the questions you think, if answered, could provide the greatest benefit to breast cancer patients. As questions come in, aggregated themes for research will emerge. Data sets that can be used to address the research questions will then be located or generated and the necessary funding and resources will be secured. To learn more, click “Join the Challenge.”
Each one of you can help with these Breast Cancer challenges: here are different ways you can participate.
